Bulletin #1

The International Seminar "Quarks-2006" is organized by the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences together with the St.-Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute of RAS and V.A.Fock Institute of Physics of St.-Petersburg State University from May 19 to 25, 2006. "Quarks-2006" is the fourteenth in the series of seminars taking place every two years since 1980 in various historical and cultural places of Russia; the previous seminar, "Quarks-2004", was held in the Pushkinskie Gory of Pskov Region.

The coming seminar will take place in Repino, a suburb of St.-Petersburg. The site of the Seminar is in the "green belt" of St.-Petersburg, within 1 hour to downtown St.-Petersburg by public transport; it is named after the famous Russian artist I.E. Repin. We plan to reserve two days for trips to St.Petersburg and to Peterhoff. We are sure you will appreciate one of the most brilliant places in Russia.

Despite of the Seminar's traditional name, the program of "Quarks-2006" is fairly broad and includes plenary sessions, meetings at sections and informal discussions on various problems of quantum field theory and particle physics, including:

We expect that about 140 physicists will participate in the Seminar.
